Shooting Stars: Emmitt Smith

When you produce a talk show in the fourth largest city in America, you tend to run into a lot of stars– the kind in front of the camera…as well as the kind both on and off the field. In that category, perhaps there was none greater than NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.

Driving Emmitt…NFL star Emmitt Smith visited Space City as part of a select tour through Lincoln Motors. As a lifelong Cowboys fan myself, I couldn’t wait to tell Emmitt: “Thank you for all those Super Bowls!” He smiled and said, “You’re welcome! I’m just sorry I didn’t win more!”

During my time at Great Day Houston, I booked a whole galaxy of stars on the show….including two Oscar winners: Patty Duke and Lou Gossett, Jr. There were plenty of others, too, like…Emmy Award-winner Valerie Harper, TV legend Henry Winkler, Cheech Marin, Michael York, Kenny Rogers, Mickey Gilley, Johnny Bush, Clay Walker, Roberta Flack, Melissa Manchester, Macy Gray, Marilu Henner, Nichelle Nichols, Shemar Moore, Aisha Tyler, S. Epatha Merkerson, Vanessa Hudgens, Mayim Bialık, Kayla Brown, Sugarland, MercyMe, Dan Aykroyd, and super model Petra Nemcova.

A Good Egg……GDH host Deborah Duncan welcomes actress Julie Dawn Cole, better known as ‘Veruca Salt’ the bad egg from ‘Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.’ No golden ticket was required, but there was a golden egg involved!

Legendary comedian Robin Williams appeared on GDH via satellite for a sensational interview just less than a year before he tragically took his life.

And by satellite– some more compelling interviews with Robin Williams, Robert Wagner, Bill Paxton, and LL Cool J.

Having worked with so many celebrities over the years I’ve learned the real keys to winning their trust and in turn– I’ve tended to score great rewards like a lot of exclusives! The stars know–they’re always in good hands with me!
